My Healing Journey

Welcome to my website :) I am happy to share with you some of the interventions I followed to improve my sysmptoms and get back up on my feet, I hope you find them helpful.

Stop the damage

In addition to radiation in bedrooms, I would like to highlight the following areas as well:

Radiation sources:

Be mentally prepared to go against your comfort zone in this phase, There's a great deal of convenience that we need to let go of in transitioning to a low-radiation lifestyle. Look for the steps with a big impact first. Hardwiring your house instead of using the wifi is a good example. Getting the wires set and the cables extended is a one-time hassle that would introduce some limitations in using your gadgets, but the ‘inconvenient’ switch is worth it in the long run.

Your grandparents’ antique corded landline phone might be of use again! This is a guaranteed non-stop comedy show every time you have kids visiting. Unbelievable how times have changed!

The same applies if you work in an office; find the biggest source of radiation and try to eliminate or reduce your exposure to it. This is one of the toughest parts to deal with as an EHS person, and sometimes, the source of exposure is impossible to mitigate and might cost you your job. A tough reality check of what it means to be living with such a disability in today’s overly-connected world.

I also stopped wearing any metal jewelry/ accessories. I found them to be exacerbating my symptoms as if they were acting like antennas, even my wedding ring was causing my ring finger to twitch involuntarily and, therefore, I had to remove it.

Gut Health

I discovered that it is not uncommon to start suffering from food allergies/sensitivities right after being electrically sensitized. It’s crucial to pay attention to your gut health and eliminate any food that can trigger inflammatory reactions. We need a healthy gut to be able to absorb and utilize minerals and vitamins essential to our healing. In my case, it was gluten and dairy. I had no issues indulging in an Italian pizza with extra cheese before becoming EHS. Gone are those days! Though my intolerance reaction is becoming less severe with time.

Harmful chemicals

Multiple Chemical-Sensitivity (MCS) syndrome and EHS are strongly correlated, with one usually preceding the other. I get itchy eyes and skin redness if I walk in the detergents’ aisle in the supermarket. I had to limit my use of chemical products and switch to natural ones. The switch can be overwhelming. I started slowly, one room at a time; kitchen products, bathroom products, artificial air fresheners-these were extremely irritating for me-, then all skincare, makeup, and perfumes. Essential oils are playing a big part in my everyday life now.

It is worth mentioning that after careful examination of the present scientific evidence I could reach, I didn’t use any EMF pendants/harmonizers. Though some are trying to prove that symptoms improve upon their use, it is feared that this result, if any, might be masking the symptoms only and hindering the user from seeking comprehensive protection from EMFs, so I opted for not using them.

Detox

There’s a synergistic effect to the toxins we are exposed to nowadays: EMFs, mold, GMOs, chemicals, pollution..etc. Imagine that microplastics are now found in placentas!

Once the body loses its homeostasis and starts reacting to toxins, then there’s need to eliminate as many toxins as possible to build up tolerance again. I benefited from the infrared sauna and lymphatic drainage massages. Cranial press at night is also said to aid in detoxing the brain.

As for my gut health, I tried food-grade caster oil detox in small doses and found it effective and with minimal side effects, apart from its horrible taste. It might not be suitable for everyone, so seeking the help of a medical doctor is always advised.

I removed all my amalgam fillings as well. Not all dentists would agree on this step, but no harm in being a little extra careful when it comes to our own health and wellbeing.

Rebuild

I went through hyperbaric oxygen therapy and found it extremely helpful. It improved my sensitivity and overall health. The process involves exposure to pure oxygen which promotes self-healing of the cells; including the permeability of the cell membranes. It’s worth noting that it does temporarily lead to an increase in reactive oxygen species, so the EHS symptoms might get a little worse before getting better. In my case, though my sensitivity has temporarily sharpened, the associated pain was less severe. I also used several food supplements to support my nervous system and my gut during this phase.

It is a cliché to mention that we need to stay active and exercise to build muscle mass and improve our general health and well-being, but one thing to keep in mind, EMFs can wreak havoc on your muscles and cause them to lose their tone. Depending on how your body is affected, 10 minutes every other day is not a bad start, this is how I started…fast forward 6 years now I do intense kickboxing classes, but it really started with only 10 minutes a couple of times a week.

For my gut health, I used probiotics, digestive enzymes, and bone broth to re-nourish my microbiome.

Maintenance and boosters

I perform annual checkups to pick up any potential damages in its early stages, I always inject anti-inflammatory food in my diet and supplement with proper antioxidants like melatonin and glutathione. Once or twice a year I plan for no-EMF retreats. I also monitor the triggers, apart from EMF sources, each time I get a flare-up and do my best to avoid them. I noticed for example that dehydration triggers my symptoms. At one time, I was hospitalized and when the electrolytes started dripping from the Saline solution, my sensitivity symptoms immediately improved. So I am always careful now to monitor my water intake especially during the summer. It’s a learning journey and although there’s no cure for EHS disability so far, symptoms can be less interrupting and tolerance levels can be improved.

Living with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity is an isolating experience. A new limitation is introduced in life that I was not used to. Suddenly I couldn’t go to my favorite breakfast place because they installed a 5G antenna above the building. When I started to look for a kindergarten for my son, I had to cross one of the top options because commuting to the area would include a short drive to a road with high-voltage lines on both sides, an experience I couldn’t tolerate at that time. Even driving itself, at the beginning, was not an option for me. I would zone out once I started the engine of the car. Going out with friends and family would require a lot of preparations and explanations about how I get sick being around a large number of cell phones, Bluetooth-operated air pods, power banks…etc. sometimes it was too much of an effort that I would not attend most of my social engagements, and as a result, my social life has dwindled. I know very well that the journey is difficult and if you or anyone you know is going through this experience right now, please know there is light at the end of this long painful tunnel.

*I wish you splendid health and wellness*
